Join us for special educator mini-sessions of papermaking in conjunction with Art Explorium. Learn to create unique sheets of (Western-style) paper with moulds and deckles and a variety of fibers pulped in a Hollander beater. The history of papermaking and its contemporary uses as an art-making material will be discussed. Be prepared to get wet, have fun, and make sheets of art paper that can be used for drawing, painting, printmaking and 3-D constructions. Paper needs to dry overnight.
Preference given to educators participating in the Mānoa Heritage Center/Art Explorium workshop on July 9.
No previous papermaking experience necessary.

Try your hand at new paper making techniques including laminating, using a shaped deckle, adding inclusions – bring new materials to add to your paper!

Make paper out of old linen and blue jeans (must be 100% cotton)! Must prep material ahead of time, by cutting into 1 inch squares (without seams and zippers) and deliver to MHC on 7/29/19.

Open to all paper makers who have sheets of handmade paper they would like to dye. Bring up to 10 sheets of paper, no clothing, please. Please tie sheets in advance.
