Join us in 2022 for exciting hands-on workshops at Mānoa Heritage Center. All participants must pre-register for workshops. No refunds 3 days before class begins and no walk-ins.
Learn to make a hand-flute out of locally harvested bamboo with Sedona-based artist Jesse Kalu. Jesse is a native Chamorro of the Mariana Islands, a lifelong learner, and a self-taught musician. Participants will make their own hand-flute to take home and receive an introduction to breath-work and basic flute techniques. Care and storage of your instrument will also be shared.
Restore your glowing beauty! Let’s take a journey in creating your own good-for-the-body natural skincare. We will create a moisturizing and exfoliating salt body scrub and a refreshing fruit or chocolate face mask. To begin, we will be giving back to our ‘āina by being stewards of the land and weeding in the garden. Then we will transition into the classroom and explore how some of the herbs we will be using can benefit the skin both inside and out. After that, we will empower you to create your very own botanical recipe for a salt body scrub and a botanical powder face mask. Soon, you will be on your way to stocking your herbal cupboard with an array of botanicals that will make you look and feel healthier and more radiant.
In the spirit of mālama ‘āina, please bring your own reusable 4oz container to take your body scrub home and a 2oz container to take your powder face mask home.
