Join us in 2020 for exciting hands-on workshops at Mānoa Heritage Center. All participants must pre-register for workshops. No refunds 3 days before class begins and no walk-ins.

Hili Kukui Dye Workshop with Kumu Lokoʻolu Quintero

  • Sat. March 14, 9-11am – THIS WORKSHOP IS SOLD OUT!
  • 1 session $20
  • Ever wonder how kapa makers created such a diverse palette of colors to decorate kapa? Join us for a hands-on session to learn more about making about dye from hili kukui, the inner bark of the kukui tree. Each participant will go home with a small vial of this tannin-rich natural dye.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting dirty.
